FAQs About Balloons
How Long does a Balloon float for?
The average float time of Latex Balloons filled with Helium is approximately 12 hours, however conservatively the latex balloons will float for 5-7 hours. Float time can vary significantly based on the level of inflation (under inflation, regular inflation or over inflation), size of balloon (9", 11" 12") and external factors such as temperature and humidity. (Balloons float longer in colder temperatures and in higher humidity.)
Perth Balloons recommends inflating balloons 1-2 hours prior to the event for the best results.
How can we make Latex Balloons float longer?
There are a few things you can do to help increase float time. First, be sure to tie a tight knot in the neck of the balloon. If you are attaching ribbons to the balloons, be sure to tie the ribbon below the knot. For special occasions that require prolonged float time, we can add Ultra Hi Float to your Latex balloons (additional cost per balloon applies)
What is Hi Float?
Hi Float is an aqueous non-toxic, no irritating, non-corrosive, non-flammable, and biodegradable solution that dries inside a latex balloon to form a barrier to helium escaping though the latex balloon membrane. This coating increases the floating time of latex balloons by as much as 25 times the normal float times.
